Tickets are on sale now for acclaimed jazz vocalist Madeleine Peyroux, coming to the Midwest Trust Center at JCCC on May 22 for one performance. Peyroux will share the bill with another great vocalist, Judy Collins. For more information, check out www.jccc.edu/MidwestTrustCenter.
Lauded for her cover versions of songs made immortal by Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, ‘Big” Joe Turner, and Fats Waller, Peyroux has recorded with a who’s who of jazz musicians, including James Carter, Allen Toussaint, and Cyrus Chestnut.
Peyroux was touring the streets of Paris at the tender age of sixteen, she recorded her 1996 breakthrough album Dreamland on Atlantic Records, following it with Careless Love, the title cut being the “Big” Joe Turner classic.
Careless Love was certified gold by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA). That album has taken Miss Peyroux around the world several times now.
