The Blue Room is Back

They’re only seating fifty-five per set at this point and you need to make a reservation on Eventbrite.com before you head down there, but the celebrated Blue Room, cornerstone of the 18th and Vine Jazz District opens for a full schedule of great music next month.

The club will return to life on a limited basis-Friday and Saturdays only—beginning in June. Fridays begin at 5pm with a free Indigo Hour, followed by two sets each on Friday and Saturday at 8:30 and 10:00pm. Cover charge is $10, which helps pay for these

great musicians.

The place lights up Friday, June 4 with keyboardist Preston Portley, followed on Saturday, June 5 by piano great Charles Williams with saxophonist David Valdez and vocalist Angela Carol Brown. Professor Joe Cartwright holds court on Friday, June 11; the following Friday, June 18

It’s Matt Otto’s turn with vocalist Megan Birdsall. The James Ward Band takes the stage on Saturday, June 19. The following Friday, June 25, get down with Pablo Sanhueza’s KC Jazz Latin Orchestra. The Jazz Disciples featuring Lisa Henry round out the month with two shows on Saturday, June 26.

And that’s just some of the fun. Check out the entire schedule at www.americanjazzmuseum.org.
